Blackjack at Manchester235: What to Expect at the Tables
Our blackjack tables run day and night, all year round. You will find us at Great Northern Warehouse, 2 Watson Street, Manchester, M3 4LP. There is no membership system, no need to reserve a place, no extra steps - you walk in, head to the floor and sit down when a seat is free. Minimum bets start from £2, so the tables stay approachable whether it is your first visit or you already know the room quite well.
The rules follow standard casino blackjack. The aim is simple: beat the dealer by getting closer to 21 than they do, without going over. Picture cards count as 10, aces can be worth 1 or 11 depending on what improves your hand, and all the other cards keep their face value. It sounds straightforward written down. At the table, the pace can feel new at first, but our dealers are very used to players who need a few seconds to think or to ask something twice.

How a Hand Actually Works Here
If you have never sat down at a blackjack table, the first hand or two can feel slightly strange. The game itself is not complicated, but there is a routine to how the cards move and when you act. After a couple of rounds the pattern usually clicks into place. Here is how it typically works at Manchester235.
You arrive, make your way onto the casino floor, and look for a blackjack table with a minimum bet that feels right for you. If the layout looks busy or you are not sure where to go, our staff on the floor will point you to a suitable table. You exchange cash for chips, either directly with the dealer when the shoe is idle or at the cashier desk first, then you place your bet in the marked betting circle before the next deal starts.
We deal you two cards face up. The dealer takes one card face up and one card face down. From that point you decide what to do with your hand. You can Hit to take another card, Stand to keep your current total, Double Down to double your bet and receive exactly one extra card, or Split your hand if you have two cards of the same value. After every player finishes their decisions, the dealer turns over the hidden card and draws more cards until reaching 17 or higher. Then all totals are compared. If your hand is closer to 21 than the dealer and does not bust, you are paid at even money. A natural blackjack - an ace with any 10-value card - usually returns a higher payout than a standard winning hand.
There is one practical point that applies in any casino, including ours. If you are unsure about your next move, ask the dealer before you act. They will not rush you, and a short question is far better than guessing on a double or a split you do not really understand yet.
We also offer a side bet at the blackjack tables. This is completely optional. It must be placed before the cards are dealt and it pays out based on particular card combinations, so it resolves on its own and does not depend on you winning or losing the main blackjack hand.
Learn to Play Blackjack - Our Guided Experience
We run a structured Learn to Play Blackjack session as part of our Unique Experience line-up. It is aimed at guests who have never played before or who prefer a bit of practice before they join a live table for real stakes. You book the session in advance and one of our casino team hosts it in a relaxed, lower-pressure space away from the main game.
During the session we walk through the core rules, the standard hand signals used at the table, the order of betting, and how the side bets sit alongside the main game. Everyone has time to play a few practice hands without risking their own bankroll. After that, if the group wants to, we can move across to the main floor. It pairs neatly with other experiences in the building, such as cocktail masterclasses, so it is a regular choice for group events, corporate nights, birthdays, as well as hen and stag parties.
To book a spot or to ask about availability, you can use any of the following:
- Call 0161 828 0300 during venue hours to reach our events team directly.
- Email [email protected] with your preferred date, estimated group size and any details that are important to you.
- Fill out the online enquiry form on our party packages page.
- Follow @manchester.235 on Instagram to see posts about upcoming Learn to Play dates.
- Once your booking is confirmed you will get a schedule with arrival time, where to go first and what you need to bring on the day.
Weekend slots, especially evenings, tend to go quickly, so it is worth getting in touch early if your date is fixed.
Blackjack Online vs the Live Table
If you have spent time playing blackjack online before visiting us, you will already be familiar with the core decisions: when to hit, when to stand, when to double down or split. The rules that govern those choices are the same ones our dealers work to at the tables here. What changes is the environment. Online play moves at whatever pace you set, whereas a live table has a shared rhythm that all players follow together. The hand signals we cover in our Learn to Play session exist precisely because the dealer needs a clear, visible instruction from each player in turn. That is one detail that online play does not prepare you for, and it is one of the first things we walk through in the guided session. If you have only ever played digitally, a single Learn to Play session tends to close that gap quickly before you sit down for real stakes.
